WHAT TRASH DOES

Trash: Your Recovery Safety Net

When you delete a task or note, it doesn't disappear immediately. Instead, it moves to Trash where it stays until you permanently delete it. This gives you time to change your mind if you realize you deleted something important. Items stay in Trash until you manually empty it, so you control when things are gone for good.

Completing tasks also sends them to trash, unless you're completing a recurring task.

Gary empties his Trash weekly. I find I empty mine just after I accidentally drag something there I actually need. We represent different schools of thought.

  • purpose Hold deleted items until you're sure
  • safety net Change your mind anytime before emptying
  • manual control Items stay until you empty Trash
  • recovery Drag items back out if needed
  • limitation Items in Trash can't be searched
  • manual empty Empty Trash button for permanent deletion
  • ideal state Empty it periodically, like you empty your actual trash
