HOW BACKUP & RESTORE WORKS
Your Data in a Portable Format
Backup creates a JSON file containing all your Pachinko data. Everything - tasks, projects, areas, statuses, notes, dates, settings, all your organizational structure and content.
The backup saves to your computer, not to cloud storage we control. Your data belongs to you, and backup ensures you can take it with you if you ever leave Pachinko, use it in other tools, or simply keep offline backups for safety. No lock-in, no proprietary formats.
IMPORTANT: WHAT RESTORE DOES
Restore Adds, It Doesn't Replace
Restore imports the backup data on top of whatever you already have. It doesn't delete your existing tasks, areas, or projects first. If you want a clean restoration, you need to delete all your existing tasks, areas, and projects before restoring.
If You Need to Reset Your iCloud Data
If something goes wrong with sync and you need to start fresh:
- Backup first - File → Backup All... while you still have your data
- Delete iCloud storage - go to iCloud settings and delete the Pachinko container. The app may still show cached data after this
- Wait for sync to finish - watch Pachinko's cloud sync icon until it stops receiving
- Restart the app - the cache clears on restart and your data disappears
- Restore - Settings → Support tab → Restore from your backup
The order matters. Once you delete the iCloud container and restart, your data is gone. If you didn't backup first, there's nothing to restore.
